The NLA Board of Directors voted to establish the NLA Sustainability Committee on January 24, 2020. Sustainability is an issue that is gaining in prominence and attention for corporations around the world and in the United States. Sustainability issues typically address a broad spectrum of issues, and the term means many different things to different people. The Sustainability Committee is not intended to duplicate the work or issues of the existing NLA Environmental Committee or the NLA Health & Safety Committee.
The Board determined that the first issue that will be addressed by the Sustainability Committee will be issues relating to greenhouse gas emissions from the lime industry. The Sustainability Committee will hold regular meetings and conference calls led by NLA staff, and periodically submit its recommended actions to the Board of Directors for its consideration.
