Health & Safety

NLA and its members are committed to promoting the health and safety of lime industry workers through education, advocacy, and industry cooperation.  NLA’s Health and Safety Committee meets at least twice a year to share information and expertise, and pursues projects designed to enhance industry health and safety performance.  The Committee and NLA staff also pursue advocacy in Congress and with the Mine Safety and Health Administration to improve health and safety laws and regulations.

The Health and Safety Area contains information about the Committee and its activities, including minutes of past meetings, a list of company contacts, and comments NLA has filed on proposed MSHA regulations.  The area also provides substantive information on numerous health and safety issues, including hazard communication, exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace, equipment guarding, and many others.
