Dust Collection in the Lime Industry

In order to operate and maintain dust collection equipment properly, it is important to look at dust collectors as part of a complete system. At lime plants, the dust collection system is generally made up of five major components:

• Collection hood(s)
• Ductwork
• Dust collector
• Fan
• Material handling equipment

If any of these areas is poorly designed or operated inefficiently, the entire system will not perform properly.

This session will examine the design and maintenance of each of these components, in order to provide insights on enhancing the performance of the entire dust collection system.
